Some Facts about this cool car:

-it was the first car to be advertised with the word AERODYNAMITE in a print Ad to show excitement. (It was not the Toyota Supra)

-It was designed by the same man who designed the Citroen SM, GS, and CS (Yes, they are the crazy ones!)

-It was built in Argentina

-It was the first mass-produced four-seat sports model to be designed in a wind tunnel.

- In 1982, the Turbo Diesel model was classified as the fastest diesel car in the world with a top speed of 180 km/h at the time!!

- Released in 1983, it was the first car to offer a remote keyless in the world!

- The Renault Fuego was also the first car to have steering wheel mounted satellite controls for the radio (European LHD GTX model and Turbo since 1983).

-It has one of the coolest names for a car.

Awesome. Black cars with red interiors just do it for me. He is fine, but every time I am in gear, say fourth, and return to neutral to stop for a light, the revs drop too much as if it is going to die, but then they rise up. I don't think this is normal, but for now it hasn't turned off .

I love the interior, could it be the rev limiter is what is hurting Oliver.

didn't thought about that, but we plan on changing the fuel pump. It seems that the car was stored for a long time, our mechanic told us the first time the air filter was FILLED with beach sand. Oliver went rallying...

IIRC, it was the first car to have remote locking, as well, with a THOROUGHLY STUPID infrared remote, with the sensor in the front dome light, so that it only worked if you were approaching the car from behind or to the side (the rear view mirror blocked line-of-sight to the sensor from the front), and even then only within a few meters.

French manufacturers stuck with that system well into the '90s, despite everybody else having figured out how to do it properly with RF remotes. Ugh.

You forget one truly amazing but true fact:

- The Fuego and it's generation-brothers of the same marque were developed with a life-expectancy of about 4-years in mind. This way Renault tried to create a growing replacement market.

I can be mistaken about the 4-years, it could have been even less. But it's the main reason you never see Fuego's, 14's or 18's on the road anymore.
